Educators

Chemo Buddies is a community based charity that needs your help. Chemo Buddies believe that everyone has talents and you have the opportunity to use your powers for good! Do what makes you happy and create a way that benefits our community whether it's though projects that produce items or money. Every talent and interest has a place within Student Buddies.

Use the following list as brain food. Let it inspire you with fun ways to contribute. Don't be afraid to branch out on your own and create something new, this is not a limited list!

  • Decorate gift bags for new patients.
  • Make no-sew tie blankets with warm fleece for patients on their first day of treatment.
  • Host a supply drive. Collect items like chapstick, hand sanitizer, Kleenex-brand pocket-packs, notepads, and hard candy for "First Day of Chemo" goodie bags.
  • Decorate holiday cards with encouraging messages like "We're thinking of you", "you can do it!", and "Be strong". (Seasonal items need to be delivered at least 2 weeks before the holiday.)
  • Make candy or treat bags for patients that get "metal mouth" during their treatments.
  • Use handprints or footprints to create a craft that lets patients know there are students thinking of them.
  • Sewing projects like neck pillows or port pillows are great practice for youth and something our patients love.
  • Make bracelets or necklaces with beads and sell them.
  • Host a "jean day" at your school or office, charging to dress more casually.
  • Host a themed day (like pajama day, superhero day, favorite color day etc.) for a small fee from each participant.
  • Have a something-a-thon! A basketball shoot out, a soccer ball kick off a jumping-jack competition etc. Each participant can pay a fee to join the competition and/or raise money by taking pledges per goal or jump.
  • Host an auction. Facilitate a silent auction, a Chinese auction, make tickets for a raffle or ask your fastest talking friend to emcee a traditional auction.
  • Have a recital or concert debuting your skills on a new instrument you've been practicing. Charge admission and donate the proceeds.
  • Like to cook? Host a bake sale and donate profits to Chemo Buddies.
  • Like sports? Play a game or tournament and charge a small fee to participate and admission to watch.
  • Like to build things? Sell your creations at a craft fair, science fair or expo.
  • Use Facebook or create an account on GoFundMe or GiveForward to raise money through social media.
  • Host a Penny War or change drive. Using jars to collect spare change and cash at your school or workplace. (We have jars you can use!)
  • 151 More Fundraising Ideas via GiveACar
  • Yes even 50 More Ideas

Perhaps something on this list will be the seed that sprouts into a brand new idea. Contact us if you have new ideas or questions! Some materials for these projects may be provided, so check out the Grant we've got on deck to cover your expenses.
